What We Believe
This simple statement of faith is presented in good faith, with the understanding that it does not constitute an exhaustive statement of the faith values that we hold to. It is however representative of our faith values.

  • We believe that the entire Bible was written through the inspiration of God, and therefore is the final authority in matters of faith and practice for the believer in Jesus Christ, and for all those in His Church.
  • We believe that God has existed eternally, and through the course of human history has revealed himself in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God is all powerful, all knowing, and all present, and in His great love towards us, has put in place a plan to save those who trust in His Son, Jesus Christ.
  • We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God who became flesh in order to dwell with us upon the earth. He was completely God, and completely man, within one body. Jesus died upon a Roman cross in order to bring salvation and forgiveness of sins to those who choose to follow Him. Defeating death, He rose from the grave and is now alive and working in His Church, the expression of His Kingdom on earth. One day He will come back to earth to bring judgement upon those who refuse to accept His authority over creation.
  • We believe that mankind was created to enjoy community with God and that the central purpose of God’s revelation through Scripture is to call people into fellowship with Himself, and to restore the broken relationship with Him and others. This is made possible through the death of Jesus, and His being raised again to life, and therefore the free gift of this restorative process (salvation) is found in Jesus Christ alone.
  • We believe in the ministry of the Holy Spirit, sent to earth by God the Father following Jesus’ return to Heaven. His presence enables and empowers the believer toward living a holy life, and gives guidance, assurance, comfort, and wisdom to those who believe. Evidence of His work in the life of the believer is expressed through the attributes of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness and self control.
  • We believe in the bodily resurrection of the saints, (those who continue to live by faith under the Lordship of Jesus Christ). These can be assured of eternal salvation, possessing as they do the promise of eternal life with God.
  • We believe in the unity of all believers under one Lord, Jesus Christ, who is the Head of the Church. The Church’s purpose is to preach the good news of salvation through Christ, and to equip His disciples for ministry.
  • We believe in baptism by immersion for all those who turn toward God and confess their belief in Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. Baptism is symbolic of a believer’s joining in the greatest story of human history, the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Buried with Christ in the waters of baptism, the believer is raised again to a new life in Him.

God is calling all men and women to an eternal relationship with Him. To start this lifelong journey, God asks each of us to:

  1. Acknowledge that we are sinners and in need of a Saviour (Romans 3:23, Act 2:37-38, Ephesians 2:1-3)
  2. Believe that Jesus is the Son of God, and the only way for salvation (1 Peter 3:18, Colossians 1:19-20, Ephesians 2:4-9, Mark 16:16)
  3. Turn from our sins and embrace God’s way for our life (Luke 3:8, Acts 2:38, 3:19, Romans 6:1-2, 2 Corinthians 7:10)
  4. Confess that Jesus is Lord of all creation, and that God raised him from the dead (Matthew 10:32, Luke 12:8, Romans 10:9-10)
  5. Be baptised in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Romans 6:3-10, Colossians 2:11-12, Acts 2:38, 22:16)
